Union was opened for homesteading in 2026, and was claimed by ThunderGenome Ltd., which launched a small colony ship in the following solar year. After the standardization of the jump drive following the Second Accords, the 2400 census found the planet unoccupied, and it was again opened for homesteading. Maria Nguyen filed a claim in 2406. ThunderGenome Ltd.'s colony ship arrived in 2693 and began establishing a colony. Joshua Gnagua, the inheritor of the 2406 claim, filed a lawsuit against the colony. Both claims were upheld as valid in 2729.
