We arrived at the docks in Karthwasten mid-morning, and I followed the road winding up the hill through the farmland to the city.

The effects of the war are very visible among the farmland: there are many burnt-out or abandoned houses and fields laying fallow, even thirty years on. I suppose the population hasn't recovered if the farms aren't in use.

I stopped by a local alchemist’s practice to see what they would give me for ingredients from Morrowind. Not much better than in Morrowind itself, but a little. The alchemist told me their husband is missing and they’ve been struggling to hire anybody to help find him due to the tensions between ethnic groups here.
