3 Hearthfire

I followed the spiderweb of roads north through the northwestern peninsula of the island. I was fairly lost for a good portion of the morning, but found some road signs by noon or a little later. I reached Ald Velothi but didn't stay, as the smith who repaired my hatchet and the woman I asked for directions to the smith both reacted mostly with hostility to my presence.

On the outskirts of Gnisis I met a human who asked me to fetch an emerald ring from the bottom of large pond nearby. The water was almost entirely clear and I could see the large, twinkling stone catching

the sun on the bottom.

I had a nice little swim before she and another bandit started trying to shoot me with arrows from the small ridge along the back of the lake.

Luckily, I had left my pack behind a boulder that provided me with cover from their line of sight, and while they scrambled down from their perch I was able to drink Ajira's lightning shield potion and ready the crossbow in time to catch the human off guard with a well-placed bolt.
