Started well, but has ended on a sour note.
I left Vivec early in the morning, heading east. The roads wind through farmland, diverging and circling around homesteads before crossing back together in a braid-like structure. In mid-morning I found myself shadowed on the right side of the road by a group of netches, three large ones and a smaller one with significantly different anatomy. They floated past almost completely silently, relatively nearby, overtaking the path not twenty paces ahead of my position, the four of them crossing
to a tree to graze. A dunmer caught up with me as I paused to watch them, and told me to be careful - the bulls are only dangerous when the betties are nearby. She wore leather garb like an ashlanders, but spoke Dunmeris confidently and fluently, so I assumed her to be from one of the cities.
The netches are bizarre looking creatures, terrifying to encounter at first, but their movements seem so graceful and gentle that they impart a sense of calm to the observer, not to mention a sense of wonder: they are the largest animals I have ever seen, and they float.
