establish mutual dependence and thus end the animosity between the two groups. The Zainab declined Turedus an audience, however, and they had since been looking for a neutral party such as myself to try to open negotiations.
The hike out to the main Zainab camp took a little over two hours. I struck up a conversation with the first person I encountered, opening with an inquiry about the Zainab and their way of life rather than introducing myself as a negotiator.
